EP 209: Fables Vol 1

Dad has more dental issues as Patrick maybe gave himself an overdose of allergy pills so listener beware as the duo cover Bill Willingham, Lan Medina,  Mark Buckingham and Steve Leialoha's
first volume of Fables from Vertigo comics,

Patrick avoided this comic for a long while for some reason, Dad seems to know almost every single character from the Fabledverse in this book.

Dad and Patrick feel the work as some pacing and storytelling issues, but Buckingham and Leialoha’s artwork moves the narrative right past a bit of a clunky third act.

Treats were walnut and dot cookies.

Dad does have a vomiting attack from taking Tylenol 3 pain pills and chemo medications on an empty stomach.

Dad is excited to cover Batman Year 100 from Paul Pope and José Villarrubia

Patrick declares this to be one of the greatest Batman stories of all times because it completely inverts the Batman mythos and creates its own continuity.

Dad wants to know if this is Bruce Wayne or is it a clone of Batman.

Patrick and Dad wrap the show up with discussing proper Batman attire, cowl, and cape.

EP 205: Gotham Academy

Patrick and Dad read and discuss the first volume of Gotham Academy.  Dad may be “all ages” guy and we eat bad donuts.  Next Week: Make Mom Read Comics

This week Patrick and Dad read the first volume of Gotham Academy from the New 52 relaunch.  The books is currently on the second volume with the DC Rebirth relaunch with the creative team of Becky Cloonan, Brenden Fletcher, and Karl Kerschl.

Patrick and Dad debate what constitutes an all ages comic, and is that just a term to signal no over the top violence and sex lives here?

Dad learns all about K-Pop and leaps to wild assumptions about his future daughter in law.

Patrick and Dad also want an entire comic centered around the character of Maps, and this book has just enough Batman.

Treats are stale 7-11 donuts
