EP 194: East of West

The genre and mind bending first volume of Jonathan Hickman and Nick Dragotta’s East of West from Image Comics.

Is this all about a bleak vision of a science fiction retelling of the biblical apocalypse?

Is this a superhero style story wrapped up in cyberpunk cloak with a western twist?

Is this a western style story wrapped in a superhero cloak with a cyberpunk twist?

Is this a cyberpunk style wrapped in a western cloak with a apocolypse twist?

How good is the design on this book?

We do not know but we attempt to figure it all out in about a half hour, Dad complains about bad treats as well,

EP 193: Animal Man

Patrick rediscovers a book he forgot was a damn good as it was when he reread the entire run of Grant Morrison's Animal Man run from DC comics in the late 1980s.

The book pays homage to comic book tropes, cartoon logic, and gets all meta in artist process.

But does Dad understand any of this crap?  Does he give up at seeing B'wana Beast?   Does he understand that the Coyote god is really homage to Wile E Coyote?   Or does Dad understand every single panel perfectly?

Patrick and Dad also spend a little bit of time to address emails and devouring the glory that is a Paczki

Next Week: Fear Agent

EP 192: Marvel 1602

Patrick and Dad read Neil Gaiman’s Marvel 1602.

Patrick unloads some hate, Dad kinda digs it but is filled with many questions.

Things get confusing right off the bat when Patrick attempts to explain to Dad the convoluted history of Marvel Man, Todd Mcfarlane, Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore

Patrick things Andy Kubert puts in some really good work on this book, but questions the panel layout in the final issue.

Both hosts enjoy some muffins and make peace.  Next Week: Animal Man
